SOCIAL SUMMIT FOR THE INTEGRATION OF THE PEOPLES

ASC and the Bolivian Movement for the Integration of the Peoples launched the Convocation for the "Social Summit for the integration of the Peoples".

Social movements and organizations united in the Continental Social Alliance, the Bolivian Movement for the Integration of the Peoples, the Continental Campaign against FTAA and other regional bodies are continuing preparations for the "Social Summit for the integration of the peoples", to be held in Cochabamba, Bolivia, from Dec. 6 – 9, 2006 in conjunction with the official Presidential Summit of the South American Community of Nations.

The Summit’s objectives include: to analyze and reflect on the proposals and processes for integration existing on the American continent in light of the struggle against the current models of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs); to deepen the construction of alternative proposals for integration based on solidarity between nations as a function of the needs and interests of the peoples; and to establish a presence at the official Summit by presenting proposals and concrete alternatives for integration in a wide variety of areas and issues.

The preparations for the Summit include the release of a Convocation for all social organizations that identify with the principles of the Summit to register and present proposals and activities that can make the meeting fruitful and productive.
